In Q3 of 2023, Azerbaidjan announced that is working on the development of a national Track and Trace system – the Drug Persecution and Tracking System (DVTIS). The preparations for the use of the traceability system are still ongoing.

Project Timeline

Based on the information from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the tracking of psychotropic drugs and potent medicines falls within the initial phase of the project. Furthermore, from 1st June will start the real-time monitoring of other medicines in the warehouses of all domestic manufacturers and wholesale pharmaceutical enterprises, as well as in medical institutions and pharmacies.

Stakeholders

For the current moment, the main involved participants are:

  • All domestic manufacturers

At the beginning of February, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Health organized a meeting with representatives of European pharmaceutical companies to discuss issues related to the use of the system, and to demonstrate the operation of the Drug Persecution and Tracking System (DVTIS) visually.
